However, the massive computer crash that afflicted it on January 31st meant thousands were unable to and the IT support team was called in to allay the damage. Making matters worse was the fact the system failure was completely unexpected. A spokesman for the HMRC stated, “It had been working fine all along and then on the big day it goes and crashes”. This shows the importance of having an effective IT support team on hand in worst case scenarios, who will take stock of the situation and put their computer skills to use.
